In this current season, I have been sharing a message about Joseph’s journey from prison to palace. It serves as a prophetic symbol for many of God’s people who are transitioning to a new place and next step in God. Joseph is also a prophetic picture of a new breed of leaders and ministers that are prepared and emerging for such a time as this. They are strategically positioned by God for significant leadership and ministry roles.
This breed of Joseph leadership possesses several distinctive features, and in this post, I want to highlight 6 of them for identification, declaration, and encouragement.
Combo-Graced:
Joseph wore a multi-colored mantle, symbolizing the combination of graces upon his life. He had a prophetic gift, enabling him to interpret dreams, and apostolic grace, as he was tasked with carrying out the dream’s fulfilment. He was able to read and build the season! This combination of graces is also observed in the New Testament, where Paul, in 2 Timothy 1:11, declares his appointment by God as an apostle, teacher, and preacher. A new generation of leadership is emerging, many of whom are similarly graced with combinations of giftings (apostolic-prophets, apostolic-teachers, prophetic-apostles, prophetic-teachers, etc.). However, one of these graces may dominate, and your ministry’s fruit will reveal which one that is.
Transformed:
This new breed of leadership has undergone a profound transformation. They have experienced a process that has made them “bigger” on the inside, and the character of Christ is evident in them. Like Joseph, who journeyed through the pit, the house of Potifar, and the prison, these leaders have gone through places of transformation which has birthed in them a spirit of fatherhood and motherhood, similar to David, who had a shepherd’s heart. They are the new breed leaders for the current and upcoming move of God and they will function under a double portion. A hallmark of genuine transformation is the ability to forgive those who have hurt you, as Joseph did when he reconciled with his brothers.
Cutting Edge Teachers:
Joseph’s ability to provide grain (Word) to the people was due to his charge over the grain supply. This new breed of Joseph leadership includes numerous apostles and prophets with a strong teaching anointing. Their responsibility is not only to provide spiritual “milk” but also the “meat” of God’s Word, elevating people to a deeper understanding. Remember now, it is not only about Jesus but also about His principles. This is the reason why Jesus conduct a forty-day Kingdom Seminar before He went to the Father (Acts 1:3). The purpose of teaching God’s Word is never to bring people under the law but to instruct them in living according to heaven’s design. The Word should yield abundant life!
Governmental:
Joseph was adorned with a necklace and a ring, symbolizing his governmental authority. A new breed is emerging with a strong governmental nature and impact. With a fatherly heart, they are restoring apostolic and prophetic order in various aspects of the kingdom of God. They carry spiritual authority and their words shifts atmospheres, their prayers break strongholds and their ministry will set people free. Heaven acknowledges their ministry, and they operate in the combination of the Word and Spirit.
Mandate Carriers:
Joseph was the one who received a mandate to build the infrastructure according to the dream of Pharaoh. He was a mandate carrier. Likewise, many of this new breed are also authorized by God to build according to their calling and grace. These building projects can be many different ones. Many have received revelation to see it, however is in this season God is releasing the wisdom and grace to build it.
Highly Favored:
Joseph was elevated to the position of prime minister, enjoying significant favor. Similarly, this new breed is experiencing promotion and high favor. This aligns with what we see in the life of David when he became King of Israel. However, their promotion serves a greater purpose, just as 2 Samuel 5:12 tells us that David’s elevation was for the benefit of God’s people, to lead them higher. Ultimately, leadership is about lifting others up.
